Back before I even dated my wife, I knew the power of fine jewelry. My brother and I, knowing that it was my mom’s birthday, decided we were going to get her something—and we had to do it fast because we were downtown and were going to be leaving soon.

So, we went into the local store, and started looking around to see if we could find something that we thought that my mom would want.

Then we spotted what we thought was the perfect thing.

Right near the cash register were little, thin, plastic rings that had different “stones” for birth months. I forget how much they were, but I figure they were about four for a dollar, because that’s what I remember paying total. We thought that they were both great deals and something special—because we rarely got money to spend anyway.

Well, needless to say, I don’t believe that my mom still has them, but the moral of the story is that the thought behind a gift is more important than whether it’s a Three Stone Ring, a Diamond Pendant or even Stud Earrings.

The last thing is something that I got my wife for her birthday/Christmas not too long ago. It’s neat to give your wife jewelry to watch her eyes sparkle. For some reason, that nearly transparent rock has a lasting effect—one that not only helps her feel more beautiful, but it also makes you smile.
