Some couples think that they know each other well enough, as they have lived together for months and they don’t need any pre-marital counseling. Maybe they are right and maybe they are wrong. Some religions require counseling before they are allowed to get married.
When it comes to making a lifetime commitment to a marriage partner, too many people are not looking under the hood of their relationship. Investing in quality premarital counseling can prevent costly and emotional mistakes.

@militarywifey: Who has the time?! Seriously. It's interesting what happens after a couple gets married. As much as premarital counseling tells you about the expectations that do not change after you say "I do" and the jokes about what wedding cake can do to a husband/wife it happens pretty much to many of the couples I've been around.

That is part of my attempt with this series. Most of us may not have the money to do some of these things without debt or planning, but I'm hoping that I inspire you to capture the romance of a time past and spark something new.

This is so true. And it isn't just the Husbands that are lazy but the wives too. In fact, sometimes we as wives use those exact same excuses with our husbands.

Obviously, the ways to approach the issue are different from a wife's perspective than a husband's. Oftentimes I see that some women (and men) "let themselves go" in terms of physical shape because they are married. We, as wives, can't be lazy. Not that we have to look perfect, but we should at least try to keep in decent physical shape not only for our husbands, but for our health as well.

@Pamela Kramer: Tell me about it. It's hard to find a babysitter, groom one, or get them reliably unless they're family.

A good babysitter can help this along very nicely. Says the mom without a babysitter. Which is why we only get to go out maybe once a year. Yes, I'm serious.
