Man, did he ever play with it, or just give it to his sister. Some boys would be “It’s my doll!”

So far, we’ve just celebrated on the days, or the weekends of the days, but my wife still feels a bit more left out. Have to do something big for her this year.

Yeah, he got a Barbie. That’s because people got one gift for both of them and were thinking more about the 6 year old girl instead of the 14 year old boy.
I wouldn’t move the birthday celebrations to the summertime. If it were me, I’d be sad. I would feel like a make-believe birthday. Instead, celebrate your son’s birthday the 1st weekend of the month and your wife’s the 2nd, then you have the 3rd weekend to celebrate Christmas and even the last weekend if you like to make New Year’s a big deal. (We do – that’s our anniversary.)

Glad you have such good ideas for making his birthday special. We’ve toyed with the idea of moving the celebrations of the birthdays to the summer time, but haven’t tried it yet.

Hubby’s birthday is usually two days before Thanksgiving, depending on the year, and his sister’s birthday is the same day as his. She’s eight years younger, so very often they’d get a combined present from people and it’d be a Barbie or My Little Pony and he’d be left in the cold.
Pizza is his favorite food by a long shot and turkey really doesn’t curl his toes, so quite often, I bake a jumbo pizza (I cheat, i get boxed pizza dough mix at the store, but he doesn’t care) for him when all the Thanksgiving hullabaloo guests are elsewhere.
