Each year, those of us with family that are still alive have a decision to make– where will you spend Christmas this year.
Up until this year, we’ve split the time between my parent’s house and my wife’s mom’s house, but this year we’re doing something different.
Christmas Eve we’ll be going to my parent’s church for their evening service, and we’ll also do gifts down there with them. (Hopefully we’ll be down there for part of the afternoon or something so that we’re not getting home too late!) And we’ll go out to her mom’s some time after Christmas, but Christmas day we’ll be at our house, and no where else.
I think that this will allow us more family time, and to just enjoy the blessings that we will have received from our family.
How about you? What are your plans this Christmas?

We used to spend Christmas Eve with my family and Christmas Day with my husband’s family. When our first child was born, though, we decided that Christmas would be the one holiday we spend at home. Over the years we’ve invited each side of the family to spend the day with us a couple of times, but most years it’s just our immediate family. I really like it that way. It’s less overwhelming, and I feel like we actually get to enjoy each other and enjoy the day.

Usually Christmas Eve and Day are spent with my extended family. We’d always do Christmas Day at my parent’s house. The past couple years things have changed a bit with more family additions. THIS year we’ll spend the weekend before Christmas with SR family, Christmas Eve and Day just the 4 of us and the day after until almost New Years with my parents/brother’s family. It’ll seem weird not being at my parent’s house for Christmas Day, but I guess that’s all part of “growing” up.
