Foot Rub Today’s assignment will take a little planning and some of us are going to be a little better and making this prettier than others:

Make a coupon book and include coupons for a back rub, a compromise when about to lose an argument, a listening ear when needed, and doing the dishes when the other cooks.

I have a funny story here– this past weekend our church had a going away carry-in meal for a family that’s relocating.  I was standing in line waiting to get food for my kids, when I just reached out in front of me to one of the male senior saints in the church and started to give him a back massage.  After asking how much I charged (he could never afford it!) he said that he hoped my wife got the same benefit he was getting.

Do we take the time to indulge our partners in massages, or playing with hair, or doing something out of the ordinary?  Then this is just the thing to help break out of the routine!

Anyone want to post something unique you’re putting in your coupon book?  I bet Revka will have something in there involving Transformers.

My husband made something like this for me one year. Rather than creating a book, he printed 365 different “treats” for me to choose from…one for every day of the year…for him to do for me whenever I wanted. Some of his ideas are simple, but sweet, like “sing you a song” and “let you pick the movie” and “clean the kitchen.” He put all of these little strips of paper in a small glass vase which I still have.

You still have the vase or the strips of paper?

That’s a neat idea to do– but I don’t know if I could come up with 365 different ideas– that would make a good blog post in itself!

365 things you can do for your spouse this year… hmm… Now you have me thinking.

Oh, he repeated them! I can’t remember know how many different ones he thought of, maybe 30 and repeated it 12 times. And some things he put in extra if it was something I really like.

That would still make an interesting post next month– maybe you should solicit suggestions in a post next month along with putting in some good ones and see if we can get a good list built!

I always loved this idea, and also I like Leslie’s husband idea.

Oh, and MIn, your last sentence had me literally laughing out loud. Mr. Incredible came in to see why I was laughing, but I’m not so sure he caught the full humor of the joke.

I just thought of one coupon I would definitely include:

“This coupon entitles you to my immediate (no procrastination involved whatsoever) compliance with your request for me to get the clothes off the love seat.”

Explanation: that seat is right outside the laundry room door and nearly always has at least one (usually many - ha!) article of clothing on it, which really seems to bug poor Mr. Incredible.
