Those are some great questions. I agree, I would say some interesting stuff if I was asked those. Good post.

I think I would cry if my husband asked me these questions. (Not that I have one... yet.) But just that he would care that much. Wow. It would so take a REAL MAN to make himself vulnerable like that. Wow.

Very thought-provoking post. I think they're a good way to analyze a marriage. In all honesty, though, you must admit -- more often than not, we already know what it is about us that displeases or upsets our partners. We just continue to do it for various reasons. Still, if we just take the answers to those questions to heart, I'd think they'd be a great way to really examine and possibly heal an ailing marriage.

The author of this book actually encourages you to write down some of these things that you find out about your wife in a book-- so you can have your own owners manual of sorts (but only with her approval).

You're right, Mary. Doing this is a huge step of faith, but who better to help you in your spiritual growth than our closest neighbor?

Have I asked? I did the first time I read this book. I take it that you're challenging me to do it again? :)

How sure are you? ;O) Have you bitten the bullet?

These are really thought-provoking. I'd think a great deal of maturity would be needed in the discussion!

On question #7, rating your marriage from a 1-10, to me this is a test of contentment and commitment. I may rate, honestly, my marriage at a 9, b/c I'm so grateful for the man God gave me, and I love him so much...but that doesn't mean he's perfect, or that I'm perfect. Some of these questions would really hit on issues that are highly sensitive. In a lot of couples, they could just lead to more problems. That's why, if a husband is opening himself up to this and expects/wants honesty, he's going to have to fortify himself ahead of time with an extra dose of humility! And maybe warn his wife ahead of time that he's laying himself out in a very vulnerable way...

Of course, most men wouldn't ask these questions. Only the ones truly desiring the pruning and growth part of the process. In that case...more power to them!
